Dr. Luluk Sumiarso
Dr. Luluk Sumiarso is a seasoned professional who has made his career, spanning over 30 years, with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Rersources Republic of Indonesia. During his long career with the ministry he has held several top policy maker positions as Director General of Electricity and Energy Utilization, Director General of Oil and Gas, and the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation. He also held position as a Secretary General of the Ministry before taking up his post as the first DG of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation. During his long career in public service, Dr. Luluk Sumiarso was been a strong proponent of renewable energy development for the country and is one of the founders of Indonesia Renewable Energy Society (IRES). He has actively helped reform the government approach of meeting the national energy need by creating more emphasis on demand side management and focusing on clean and renewable energy as a necessity rather than an alternative energy resource. He also introduced a new concept of mitigating climate change in the energy sector, called Reducing Carbon Emission in Fossil Fuel Burning (REFF-Burn) which tackle the pre-combustion, during combustion and post-combustion of fossil fuels by choosing the technology applicable to each of the three stages of fossil energy uses. REFF-Burn concept later extended to Clean Energy+, will highlight and guide IICECC activities. Luluk Sumiarso earned a degree in Electrical Engineer from the Bandung Institute of Technology. A Master’s from Syracuse University, USA in Instructional Technology, and a Doctorate degree on Energy Management and Policy from University of Pensylvania, USA.

Porfessor Yohanes Surya is one of Indonesia's prominent scientists with high idealsm and a passion for improving human development in Indonesia. He has dedicated most of his scientific and social career to educating students, primarily from rural and less developed regions in Indonesia. He has a passion for improving the education system through a rigorous capacity building of teachers from the primary through high school levels. He founded Surya Teachers College (STIKP Surya) to realize his plan, and subsequently began to deliver education to hundreds of aspirant teachers from Papua and other disadvantaged regions. His program has received enthusiastic response from many regional governments which are committed to sending students from their respective regions to Surya Teaching College. This has strengthened Yohanes’ expectation that the college will, in relatively short time, experience strong growth in number of students from the disadvantaged regions. His strength and love in mathematics and sciences spurred him to dedicate his time and resources to enabling young students to enjoy studying these subjects, against the common opinion that most students don’t like theme. Employing his invented method, called "GASING," he proved his conviction that every learner has the capacity to excell in these studies, especially in math and physics under the guidance of good and qualified teachers. Therefore, he finds that it is the teacher that should provide the foundation for the student to excell. Under this adagium, he found out that many kids from remote and underdeveloped area in Indonesia could participate and even win prizes in various national and international contests in science and math. For this works, Yohanes has received numerous prestitious awards and recognition from government and insternational institutions.
Yohanes sees the strategic role of Clean Energy in the future national and global energy mix and security. With his passion in education as one of main pillars of development toward achieving Indonesia's prosperity, he is contemplating to develop a world class university and center of excellence in sciences related to green energy, life and climate establish the International Institute for Clean Energy anf Climate Change (IICECC) in Indonesia.
Yohanes Surya obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physhics from University of Indonesia, and his Master’s degree and Doctorate Degree (PhD) from William and Mary College, Virginia, USA with summa cum-laude.
