REFF Burn concept

REFF Burn concept

REFF-Burn is an integrated approach combining technologies, schemes and mechanism for Reducing Emissions  from Fossil Fuel Burning (REFF-Burn) to achieve energy security and environmental sustainability. In the Indonesia context, REFF-Burn will be the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) of energy sector, as part of the National Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gasses Emission (Rencana Aksi Nasional Pengurangan Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca – RAN GRK).
The REFF-Burn Technology will tackle the GHGs (Green House Gasses) emission in energy sector through 3 (three) efforts:
1. Pre-Combustion, in form of avoidance of more fossil fuel burning that leads to GHGs emission such as :
a. Energy Efficiency Technology (High Efficiency Light, Efficient Appliances)
b. Renewable Energy Technology (geothermal, bioenergy, hydro, solar, wind, and ocean energy)
c. Fossil Pre-treatment (i.e. coal upgrading)
d.  Fugitive Emission Reduction

2. During Combustion, namely reduction of GHGs emission from fossil fuel utilization, such as:
a. Clean  Coal Technology (i.e. supercritical, IGCC)
b. Clean Fuel Technology
c. Flared Gas Reduction Technology
d. Clean Energy Utilization (in household, commercial, transportation, and industrial sectors)
3. Post Combustion, to remediate the GHGs emissions from fossil  fuel burning, such as:
a. Carbon Capture and  Storage (CCS)
b. Algae
c. Post Mining Land Reclamation
d. Carbon utilization technologies (i.e. CO2 utilization)
